About the department:

The department has been actively functioning since the inception of the prestigious institute. The department had a humble beginning with one medical oncologist to start with and has expanded over years to reach its present status with four fulltime medical oncologists.

The department caters the medical needs of both children and adults with cancer and is ranked as one of the best center in India. State of the art bone marrow transplantation unit is one momentous asset to the department apart from sophisticated medical intensive care unit.

The following services are offered by the department:

Emergencies are attended round the clock

• Out patient department:

   o Organized into three functional units, with general OPD days equally distributed
       between the three units to ensure smooth functioning

   o The OPD timings are from 8 am to 5 pm

   o Day care chemotherapy

   o In patient chemotherapy

   o Specialized Pediatric oncology ward

  o Chest tube thoracostomy and pleurodesis

o Central venous access- establishment and use

o Autologous bone marrow transplantation

o Allogenic bone marrow transplantation

The center is recognized for the Glivec International Patient Assistance Program. It also assists in conducting high quality international and national clinical trials.

The services are strengthened by the state of the art laboratory services in the departments of Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, molecular diagnostic laboratory and Blood Bank.
