Infrastructure and capabilities:

The laboratory is well equipped with Automated Equipments like:

• Fully automated Analyzer for clinical Biochemistry.

• Electrochemiluminescence(ECLIA) based technology to enable precise quantification of Tumour markers, Hormones, Vitamins etc.

• Automated Electrophoresis instrument.

Specialized investigations done in the department:

• Hormones Testing like T3, T4, FreeT3, FreeT4, TSH, LH, FSH & Prolactin

• Anaemia Testing

• Vitamins: B12, Folate

• Cardiac Markers - like TroponinT, TroponinI, CK-MB

• Specific Protein assays

• Manual Tests like Adenosine deaminase (ADA) in body fluids

• Coagulation – PT, APTT, Fibrinogen, FDP, D-dimer

• Automated Electrophoresis System: Serum protein

• Tumour markers for:

         • Screening

         • Diagnosis

         • Prognosis

• Efficacy of treatment

• Predicting relapse

• Large number of samples are processed in our lab for the following tumour markers: CEA, CA125, CA 15.3, CA 19.9, AFP, Beta HCG, tPSA, Thyroglobulin. Results are reported on the same day.

Free Light Chain analysis:

We are one of the very few centres in the state offering kappa & lambda Free Light Chain analysis and quantitation of Immunoglobulins for diagnosis & monitoring Multiple Myeloma. It is

• Rapid

• Sensitive indicator of patient status

• Identification of status of patients even if a different monoclonal protein is produced in relapse

• Response to treatment detected within days rather than weeks/months

• Patient cantered care

• Reduce waiting times as results are reported on the same day

Serum protein electrophoresis

Free light chain analysis

Immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, IgM) levels

Beta2 microglobulin

Urine Bence jones proteins

Quality:

Participation in External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS) for both clinical chemistry & Immunoassays (Tumour markers & hormones) organized by Bio-Rad USA, which has global peer group.

Inter laboratory comparison (ILC) programs with NABL Accredited laboratories.

We have Quality control department in the hospital which is responsible for overseeing the entire mechanism.
