Gynaecology - the science of women

Gynaecology is concerned with disorders in women especially those of reproductive system. The institute provides comprehensive services for the reproductive health and gynaecological needs of women and management of diagnosis and treatment of women with cancer of the reproductive organs.

The gynecologic oncologist treats post and pre-cancerous diseases of the fallopian tubes, uterus, ovary, cervix, vagina, vulva, endometrium and Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD).

Scope of the Services:

  * Hysterectomy - removal of the uterus

  * Oophorectomy - removal of the ovaries

  * Hysteroscopy

  * Diagnostic laparoscopy

  * Exploratory laparotomy

  * Cervical Excision Procedures

  * Cryosurgery

Diagnostic Laparoscopy -

Used to examine the progress of benign or malignant disease, or to assess and repair damage to the pelvic organs.

Cervical Excision Procedures and cryosurgery –

Removal of the surface of the cervix containing pre-cancerous cells which have been formerly identified on Pap smear.
